A Few Other Helpful Hosting Tips

Add a few extra chills and thrills to make your Halloween murder mystery party even more memorable.

Music Playlist

Optionally, create a Halloween playlist that you can play as guests arrive or as they complete the accusation forms etc.

  • Thriller – Michael Jackson
  • Monster Mash – Bobby Pickett & The Crypt Kickers
  • Ghostbusters – Ray Parker Jr
  • Highway to Hell    or    Hell’s Bells – AC/DC
  • This is Halloween – The Citizens of Halloween
  • Somebody’s Watching Me - Rockwell
  • Don’t Fear the Reaper – Blue Oyster Cult
  • The Addams Family Theme
  • Beetlejuice Theme
  • Time Warp – Rocky Horror Show
  • Love Bites – Judas Priest
  • At Dawn They Sleep – Slayer
  • Stay – Shakespeare’s Sister
  • Bat Out of Hell – Meatloaf
  • Ghost – Ella Henderson
  • Spirit in the Sky – Norman Greenbaum
  • War of the Worlds – theme tune or The Eve of War

Add a Trick or Treat Element to the Party

In all of our murder mystery games, guests are asked to complete an Accusation form saying who they think the murderer is and why. They are also asked to nominate who they think was the best actor and actress and who had the best costume. If guests bring food, they can also nominate the best dish. Each game has Award Certificates that you can print and give the winners. In addition, you as the host could optionally:

  • provide a "treat" to those who win each category - for example, a chocolate-covered strawberry or a petit four.
  • provide a "trick" to those who score least well in each category - for example, a chocolate-covered gherkin, an olive covered in icing sugar, a candy worm sweet covered in mayonnaise or a shot glass filled with a "disgusting" cocktail of your choice. Alternatively, ask each person to perform a "trick" such as singing a Halloween song or acting out a spooky charade. Or provide a fun, themed present such as a fake insect.

Dance (If Safe to Try)

Could any of your guests try (or teach others) Thriller or Time Warp?
