We write all of our murder mystery games with adults in mind. The flexibly-scripted format is ideal for dinner parties with friends or grown-up family members. It also works well for online parties. The plots and characters are complex enough to hold your attention and the solutions are satisfying.

In contrast to our family-friendly game, all of these murder mysteries have different romantic entanglements for selected adult guests to enjoy hamming up. They also feature a variety of mature themes ranging from mild to hilariously risque. As everything is handled in a light-hearted way, our games are unlikely to offend.

Our whodunnit games have been enjoyed by grown-ups from 18 - 89 (and possibly older)!

Nick Storm's "Murder in the Naughty Nineties" party

"We enjoyed Murder in the Naughty Nineties with adult family members as we celebrated a son-in-law's birthday. We split the evening into 3 parts: appetizers, dinner, dessert."

FAQS

1 How "Adult" is the Dialogue?

None of our murder mystery kits contain bad language or explicit dialogue so most grown-ups will be happy with the suggested dialogue provided. Everything is handled in a light-hearted way.

However, as the mystery games use a flexible script format, players can use their own words and ad-lib if they wish. Therefore, each player can choose whether to add additional innuendos, suggestions or jokes.

2 How Risque are the Murder Mystery Games?

Our mystery games offer a range of mature themes from risque to mild. The nature of each game's theme and content is reflected in the age guidance.

  • If you fancy a somewhat more risque plotline, "Murder in the Naughty Nineties" has an age guidance of "adults and older teens" as there is a consensual callgirl ring. The accusations (and denials) can trigger lots of laughs.
  • If you fancy a milder range of mature themes in your mystery party, then games with an age guidance of "adults and most teens 13+" will be unlikely to upset older guests. For example, "Murder in a 1920s Speakeasy" has storylines based around moonshine, flappers and gangsters. It does have allegations of an illegitimate child (or two) but these, like everything, are treated in a very light-hearted way.

3 Do All Adult Murder Mysteries Feature Romantic Entanglements?

Yes! We have found that these can add a lot of banter and amusement to murder mysteries. Expect different affairs and flirtations - both denied and admitted. There may also be proposals, engagement breakups and allegations from previous relationships.

Note that gender-neutral characters are not directly involved in any romantic themes - although they do have their own shocking secrets and fun storylines.

4 Are Any Mystery Games Appropriate for All-Female Adult Groups?

"Murder in the Swinging Sixties" is often played by all-female parties due to its large number of gender-neutral characters. Other customers, however, also play other games for female dinner parties or weekends away and women have then enjoyed dressing as men. A few customers have also played "Murder in the Naughty Nineties" as a hen party.

5 Can Teens Join In Adult Murder Mystery Parties?

Mystery parties labeled "adults and most teens 13+" can be enjoyed by many teenage family members. This does, however, very much depend on the personalities involved. Depending on family dynamics, some teens might prefer to play gender-neutral roles as these have no flirting involved.
