Does Adding More Players to the Game Make the Murder Mystery More Complex?
No! We "join" new suspects with older suspects by making a new suspect the wife or husband or friend of an existing suspect. This means that we can keep the storylines to an optimum tried and tested number while still giving each new suspect motives and opportunities. Furthermore, each new suspect could be one of the murderers! If Character A1 is the killer in the smaller versions, then Character A1 AND Character A2 will be the killers in the larger versions. Both characters A1 and A2 will have the same motives and opportunities.
Note: in some games, there are two - or even three - murderers in the 12-14 person version!
Is the Party Size Version of the Game Harder to Run Than Smaller Sizes?
No. All of our games are so easy to run that the host can play a suspect and enjoy the party alongside their guests. There are two main differences between the role of the host in this version of the game and in smaller versions.
- Some hosts may find it challenging to serve a sit-down meal for a large number of people while enjoying the party themselves. (See next question below.) In which case, serve a simple buffet or ask others to bring a dish - and then give the Award Certificates (provided in your party kit) for the best food. We have found that guests are so pleased to be invited that they often offer to bring a dessert or starter.
- Depending on the personalities of your guests, the host may need to be slightly firmer in reducing the amount of laughter between rounds to keep the game ticking along.
Is There a Way of Serving a Sitdown Meal To This Number of Guests?
Yes, we often do so in our test parties. Serve a pre-prepared cold starter, a pre-prepared cold dessert and a main course such as a casserole that you can reheat while the earlier rounds are played. It also helps to serve quick-cook vegetables such as peas or carrots julienne that you can cook while you are taking the dishes to the table.
Do Optional Characters Add to the Running Time?
Yes. As a general rule, each optional character could add approximately 10-15 minutes to the running time.
Can I Invite MORE than 14 Players?
We write the games for a maximum of 14 people. However, several customers have said that they have invited larger numbers of guests and that people have "doubled up" and shared a role; reviews have been favourable.
The Number of Guests Has Changed. Can I Switch to a Smaller Version?
Yes. We offer a 40% discount for different versions of the SAME game.
